Rockwall Independent School District is proud to announce that 22 students will receive recognition in the 2014 National Merit Program. This includes 13 students from Rockwall High School and 9 students from Rockwall-Heath High School. The students whose names are listed below took the 2012 Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and met requirements to enter the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program. With a Selection Index of 203 or above, these high performers have shown outstanding academic potential. Each of these students is among the 50,000 highest-scoring participants of some 1.5 million program entrants.

Of the more than 50,000 high scorers nationwide, approximately 16,000 will be named National Merit Program Semifinalists, representing the top scorers in each state, and roughly 34,000 others will be commended for their performance on the PSAT/NMSQT. Semifinalists will be the only students who will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for the 8,300 National Merit Scholarships to be offered in 2014.
