Summer break is a few days away and we hope you take a break Tuesday night, June 4th, at 6:30 PM to join Rockwall ISD staff and two special community speakers that will provide parents with prevention tools and support for their family as we end the school year.
Join RISD as we help parents respond to the current issues that our students are facing. We want to help parents ask the right questions, have the kind of conversations, and pay attention to the details that we all need to be reminded of in order to change the way our students experience and cope with life.
The evening will begin with resources and facts about how stress and depression affect teenagers and their families. We will discuss options for families, warning signs to look for and prevention techniques that are crucial for us all. An opportunity to ask questions or speak individually to a counselor will be provided. Missy Wall, LMSW, M. Div., is director of the Teen CONTACT program of CONTACT. She has been with CONTACT for the past 7 years working with schools, youth groups and community centers on issues of teen depression, suicide, bullying, mean girls, self-injury and others. She is responsible for the planning and implementation of outreach and programs for Dallas area youth and their families to raise the awareness of the services of Teen CONTACT and educate them about teen-related issues.
Chris Green, LMFT, has a private counseling practice in Rockwall and has two sons in RISD. Chris received his undergraduate degree in Youth and Family Ministry from Harding University in 1995 followed by a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University in 1997. Chris has spent his career providing counseling and ministry in the following areas: Individual/Marriage/Family Therapy, Divorce Recovery, Grief Recovery, Family Ministry, and Youth Ministry.
