Chief Firecontrolman (FCC) Lawrence Ryall surprised his nephews, sixth grader Preston Carpenter and fourth grader, Garrett Carpenter at Dorothy Smith Pullen Elementary recently. The boys were told they were invited to eat lunch with Principal Renee Demianovich and Assistant Principal Karrie Brown. Their reaction was priceless when they saw Uncle Lawrence, Aunt Amanda and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen approach. There were tears as the sixth grade class and teachers stood and cheered.
FCC Ryall has served in our Navy for twelve years and has been stationed in Yokosuka, Japan for the past 18 months, with another 18 months to serve. In the last year his ship, the USS Lassen has provided disaster relief to the Phillipines and Haiyan as well as assisting in South Korea, Guam, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Russia.
Pullen is proud to be part of this extraordinary experience that will not soon be forgotten.
