It was a season to remember for the Rockwall Yellowjackets. Many discounted the Rockwall Yellowjackets this season after they started the out of the gate going 0-3. However, the Yellowjackets swept through district to clinch their second straight District 11-6A Championship.

The Jackets found themselves on the field of the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday afternoon against the #2 ranked Lake Travis Cavaliers. The Jackets took the opening kickoff and nailed a Jake Viquez field goal to take the early 3-0  lead. That would be the only lead the Yellowjackets would have. The Cavs reeled off 21 straight points to take a 21-3 lead. Caleb Broach was able to get the lead to 11 after an impressive drive by Will Reed, Sam Crawford and Caleb Broach. Broach has two touchdowns on the day. The Yellowjackets came out in the second half with a little more urgency and the coaching staff had clearly made dramatic improvements to get the Yellowjackets back in the game, but the Cavs continued to drive the ball on the Rockwall defense to finish off the Yellowjackets. The Yellowjackets fell to Lake Travis 45-24.

Will Reed, a starter at quarterback for three seasons (2 in 6A) has thrown for 85 touchdowns in 6A to become the 9th all-time passer in 6A history.

The senior class at Rockwall High School has celebrated 3 Bi-District Championships, 2 Area Championships, 1 Regional Championship(The 1st since 1987), an undefeated 2014 regular season and back to back undefeated district seasons.

Stay tuned for the final Rockwall Sportscenter Yellowjacket Update on Monday.

The Yellowjackets will stay in 6A in 2016, but will have a new district. Kickoff is most likely set for Friday, August 26.
