Kennedy Thornton, a sophomore from Rockwall-Heath High School, won the Award of Merit for her 2013 Texas PTA Reflections Photography contest entry. The theme of this year’s contest was “The Magic of a Moment.” Texas students in preschool through grade 12 created and submitted more than 1,400 works of art in six categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts. Kennedy is a student in Mrs. Kim Lewis’ photojournalism class. The winning photograph, entitled “Innocence,” was displayed at the Texas Education Agency in Austin from March 24th to May 17th.
