Rockwall’s Gaines Kinsey will be competing Saturday in the 800-meter run in the 5A Track and Field State Championships at the University of Texas. The race is scheduled to begin at 6:20 p.m.
At the Region II-5A Championships in Waco, Kinsey placed third in his personal-best time of one minute, 53.85 seconds. That broke the Rockwall High record by more than two seconds. He qualified for the State meet by .04 second, and is seeded sixth in the event. He is barely a second behind the time of 1:52.54 posted by top-seeded Brandon Moore of South Garland.
