Dear Rockwall ISD Parents, Community Members, and Staff,
It is hard to believe we are approaching May and our students will be concluding another year of their education. This is a very busy time of year with state testing going on, recognition events for students and staff, and graduation for our seniors. The 2012-2013 school year in the Rockwall Independent School District has brought many successes and celebrations that we should be proud of in the areas of academic competitions, fine arts, athletics, and many of our extra-curricular programs. Please be sure to read the full articles in this newsletter about both our Rockwall High School Academic Decathlon team and their third place finish at Nationals as well as our Rockwall-Heath High School Robotics team and their 12th place finish at their World competition.
Our school board election is coming up on Saturday, May 11, and early voting started on Monday. I encourage you to get to know the candidates by watching the video of the candidate forum hosted by our Rockwall ISD Council of PTA’s. This is a very important election for our district and I hope you will make voting a priority. For a complete list of early voting and election day polling locations, visit our website.
As we look toward the end of school, I am reminded about what a great school district we have. We have outstanding principal leadership and a Board of Trustees who have a vision and a heart for children. Despite continued challenges with school funding, our Board continues to provide our students with an outstanding education and outstanding facilities. In fact, we are excited that with the start of the 2013-2014 school year, we will be opening our 13th elementary school–Billie Stevenson Elementary.
Finally, I want to thank our amazing teachers for their hard work in our classrooms. I firmly believe that the teachers in Rockwall ISD are dedicated to providing the best education possible for the children in our district. I am so grateful for their determination and their on-going support of our district.
Sincerely,
Jeff Bailey
Superintendent of Schools
