Sixth Grade Students from Doris Cullins-Lake Pointe recently celebrated Pi day, March 14, by holding a competition to recite, from memory, the digits of pi. Elisabeth Hamman won the competition by reciting the first 501 digits of the mathematical constant. Pi is defined as the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter and is a never-ending number.

The winners of the competition were:
Elisabeth Hamann – 501 digits (school record!)
Muthoni Kamau – 347 digits
Jessica Hamann – 201 digits

Mr. Mandanici, a 6th grade math teacher at Cullins Elementary, organized the competition.
