Michael Jarrett, an 8th grader at Maureen Cain Middle School, was declared the champion of the Rockwall County Spelling Bee and will advance to compete at the Regional Spelling Bee in Dallas on March 22, 2014. Michael competed against 16 Rockwall ISD campus bee winners and one student representing Rockwall’s Home Educational Association (H.E. A. R.).
The Regional Champion will receive an all-expense paid trip for three to Washington, D.C., to compete in the National Spelling Bee, May 25 – May 31, 2014.
