The Rockwall-Heath EMT Internship Program, administered by Rockwall County EMS, began at Rockwall-Heath High School with a group of 14 juniors and seniors.
“We’re just going over the basic operation,” said Martin Ramirez, Director of Operations for Rockwall County EMS. “Just a bit of orientation on the ambulance itself, but mostly lifting and usage of the stretcher, and the proper lifting technique for spinal mobilization from stretcher to ambulance.”
The program offers great hands-on experience for the students, opening up possible career opportunities after high school.
Rockwall County EMS also offers a Third Rider Program where anyone can ride along in an ambulance. Anyone interested can fill out a form at the Rockwall County EMS dispatch office.
