Students in grades fourth through sixth at Celia Hays Elementary recently had the opportunity to compete in a school sponsored research project. Students were asked to chose a founding father to research and they then had to select a current world problem such as illiteracy, poverty, or peace. They then determined how their founding father would have likely solved this current day problem. The students learned about the founding fathers and were able to create solutions to various problems based on what they learned about the characteristics and personality traits of each individual. They each wrote an essay about their research, created a digital poster to showcase their founding father and problem, and made an oral presentation in front of a panel of judges. Joseph Yeh was awarded the top prize of Outstanding Hays Researcher.
