On Tuesday, March 22, Rockwall ISD honored Peyton Young, a senior at Rockwall High School, with an award for a video on Education Reform he created for StudentCam. StudentCam is C-SPAN’s annual, national video documentary competition for middle school and high school students. For the 2016 competition, students in grades 6-12 were asked to create a short video documentary on a topic related to the 2016 competition theme, “Road to the White House”, and the issue they most want the candidates to discuss during the 2016 presidential campaign.
The C-SPAN Education Foundation awards 150 student and 53 teacher prizes, totaling $100,000 in cash. Peyton Young won 3rd place in the nation and received $750!
After the celebration, Peyton Young and his family, along with students, teachers and administrative staff, toured the C-SPAN bus.
